-laughs- Oh man this troll-ass anime. I actually really like Ixion Saga for what it's worth. It's not a specifically amazing anime, but it's fairly well done imo. When I read the description, I expected a light-hearted take on the (at the time) recent Sword Art Online and Accel World.

What I was greeted with was an anime full of improvised stupidity. And it worked.

But ya see, what makes Ixion Saga good is that it's not flat out stupid, just how it approaches it's scenarios. The basic plot of the series is actually a common one, especially for this setup. What makes it stand out is the absurd ways they go about doing things. I mean, one of the main subplots is about a main character losing his balls. I'm not making it up, and you did read that right. Nigga lost his balls.

There really isn't a whole lot to say about the series, as a whole, beyond that. If you can accept that it's going to throw gimmicky concepts at you, you'll realize that everything else lines up well. The entire cast is fairly likable. Something is going to happen soon be it some comedy bit or action. It's actually a wholesome series.

The main thing that keeps me from throwing it up in the 90s is the production aspect of it. They didn't do anything wrong, but they didn't do anything over-the-top or noteworthy. The animation was good and it was done well, just wasn't anything I'm going to remember in 3 weeks. Same thing with the OST, except the OP and EDs were fairly catchy.

Regardless of that, the series is a good attempt at making you laugh for 25 episodes. It's stuff happens, stuff happens often, and a lot of it will make you smile either because you genuinely laughed or you were amazed somebody actually thought to go that route. If you're kool with that, you should give it a shot.
