Anime Review: Code Breaker ~~Short~~

Code Breaker

Airing Season: Fall 2012
Length: 13 Episodes
Genre, as perceived by Dogy: Action......... Justice Action?
Dogy Overall Score: 74/100
Would I Recommend It?: ~~~~~

(Sidenote: I'm amazed I managed to overlook doing a review of this when it finished. I watched the last ep when it aired, but somehow forgot?.... I'm not entirely fresh on this series because of this.)

Aight, I'ma keep this short and simple. Code Breaker has potential to be ok. It's got some likeable stuff such as Toki (.... I think that's his name), some generic stuff such as Ogami (I think that's his name), and Sakurakoji (I think that's HER name, lol) is just a wtf that's kinda been left out to dry. It's obvious that there's supposed to be more, but the question is simply "will it suck?"

I honestly don't think the show has the potential to amazing, but it sure has a few ways to flop. I take that back. There is ONE way for the show to be interesting, and it's a reasonable out.

See my problem with the show atm is that the plot is generic and the main characters (Ogami and Sakurakoji) are as well. Even further, I actually dislike those two because, like another series, had interesting quirks that straight don't matter. Sakurakoji is literally heralded as a genius and a martial arts expert but, aside from the one fight near the beginning that she obviously wasn't going to win, she's made out to be completely helpless and worthless throughout the show. Ogami..... well, he just suffers the usual "I'm the heartless, bad-ass hero" in a series that focuses on justice. If you've seen a few staple series, you know how THAT turns up. *rolls eyes*

So there seems to be no hope for the series... but......... there are other characters.

They don't really talk a great deal about them during the series, save Toki, but they do put them there and go into some notable detail with them. It's like, they've laid foundations to expand in a later series.

Basically, if they want to, they could just... not focus on Ogami and Sakurakoji cause their part is done (although, iirc, they have to finish explaining one key point of Sakurakoji).

... oh right, the rest of the review...

Looked ok, don't remember any tracks, action was...... eh it wasn't bad from what I remember. Actually, it was slightly above average (I say anything that isn't generic "scream + still and/or shaking shot" above average). But in the end, it wasn't anything really worth mentioning

Done.
