I know I'm late on this, but this is just too funny to not put out to the public. Here in GA, we were having huge discussions on trying to figure out who was going to ride in the infamous "Double Black Diamond" mobile from GA to NJ for Apex2013 this year. Many people applied, but Fullmetal, the SSBM Tournament Organizer, and myself, one of the main SSBM Commentators, couldn't figure out who to give the spots to.
One day, I was sitting around and came up with the greatest idea for a "qualifier" ever. The idea was eventually dropped as Fullmetal thought it was "too cruel to do to his friends" (notice I said his and not mine LOLOLOL), and decided against the idea of win and success.
Here is the logged conversation, edited mainly to catch typoes here and there, but also to protect the innocent in a few occasions.

Edit: I didn't noticed that the opening section was left off ('cause it was days before this), but the concept is that the winners are winning a **NO** expense paid trip to Apex 2013. I mean, you can get that from the text, but that tag line was funny enough that I needed to bring it up.

This was the basis of the qualifier that could have been. I originally had some other hilarious ideas like making people play wacky variants of smash through winners, BWord with Items, any version coin mode, all stages legal, etc etc. However, I do think that straight SSBM would have been the best choice anyway cause, well, the other games are wack(er than SSBM, which is pretty wack itself).
