Playstation Ass Stars, the Troll is Too Strong!!

I went and bought this game yesterday. Yes, I went and bought it. So for all the people who want to shove the "I told you so" 's and "hold that" 's, I'll eat them. I trashed the everlasting fuck out of this game BEFORE I tried it, but after a few tries, I learned.

I learned that this game has so much troll potential that I couldn't pass it up.

Don't get me wrong, I still hold onto my statement that this game is bad. In my opinion, the game is a bunch of wack, wonky ideas thrown on top of each other to make a Smash clone (after they did then didn't say it's a smash clone), It's dumb that you only build meter by attacking people (well, primarily), that you only get kills from from supers, and so on and so forth.

... but that doesn't stop the game from being fun. I guess this is the first "competitive" game that I've gotten in a LONG time for a completely casual cause. First once since ... well, blOps ( Since I actually bought B-Word if we're talking "fighters")

Anywho, I'm kool with this game. I've only owned it for one day and for the amount of trolling I've done online, I'm perfectly content that I dropped money on it.

The characters work well with the game's system, which is one of the two reasons the game's aight. For the characters I know (which aren't very many), they do have their close-to-game feel. When I think about it, I think this cast is better suited for this thing than the Nintendo cast was for any Smash Bros game.... not a fair comparison since they're two different pools of game genres, but hey, not my fault. Even if I have to suffer through DmC Dante, playing him gives off a very believable DmC-in-not-DmC feel. I'd go as far as to call this game DMC6 (I call Marvel 3 DMC5, mind you). Drake feels like I'm running around doing randomness like the lil' bit of Uncharted I played, so on, and so forth. No, every character isn't hand-and-hand with their game because Sweettooth definitely isn't rolling up in his truck, but they're close enough.

I mean, when I play a game with Heihachi, I expect to duck somebody and Electric (Electric Wind God Fist) them in the mouth. Then I expect to do something close to his 10-hit cause I'm a scrub and don't know real Tekken combos. And that's pretty much what the game lets you do. I was instantly turned off to the whole no-DI idea of the game, but it makes the game fun. Figured it'd be dumb at first and they'd overlook some derp infinites, but so far it's been ok due to the infinite prevention system.

But yeah, the main fun of this game is just the flat out trolling you can do. And by you, I mean people who have solid Smash backgrounds. I guess with the current success of this game, I have to call the genre platform fighters, now.

Just like everything else, there are a base of fundamentals that you can develop. Even though the game is-but-isn't a smash clone, it still works off of alot of fundamentals of the genre. Platform movement, space control, covering options, that's all still there. The thing is... a lot of people try to act like it's not. And because of that... it's easy to troll people. Simple stuff like punishing rolls is hilarious when you watch 3 people magically dogpile onto your super. I dunno how, but it just works.

Eh, without getting into a super long-winded post about this (because I could make a -long- post about the wack stuff in the game), I will say that it's worth trying. Absolutely worth trying. Worth it to the point of B-Word had it's name before I tried it, but lost it after about an hour and a half of play. (If you don't know what B-Word is, don't worry. It's not worth it. That game is butt cheeks).

I just wanted to type a random post about Ass Stars, as I call it. Really, just a post to make a post. Didn't go into a whole lot of detail of WHY I call it Ass Stars, but hopefully you have a small idea of why it can also be Troll Stars.

And so on, and so forth.
