Morita-san wa Mukuchi "In A Nutshell"

Randomly stumbled upon this series a while ago. Literally, randomly. Like, I think I hit the random button on animeseason while I was bored and it sounded like a good idea.

It wasn't. Well, I don't think it was, at least.

I watched the entire series today in ~35 minutes. Yes, that means it's a crack anime (read: super short episodes. 3 minutes including OP, no ED). And even though I vaguely remembered what it was about, I didn't like it and I wonder wtf I was smoking when I thought it was a good idea to watch it.

It's a slice of life about the 4 girls in the front row. Mainly the black-haired one who never says anything. She's not a mute. When she goes to speak, she over-complicates the situation in her head and somebody usually cuts her off by the time she goes to say something.

If that were the actual main premise of the series and they stuck with it, it would have been aight. But ... na, this turned into a watered down boring Nichijou. (Maybe that's why I thought it was a good idea to begin with?)

I mean, there's "left field" scenarios, but half of the episodes are a string of fairly random events strung together with no big cause. None of them wind up being too funny. In fact, they somehow run a joke into the ground in the span of 35 minutes.

There's a second season, and I'm not too interested in watching it at the moment. However, if I get bored in the near future, I think I could talk myself into watching it just to see if they do anything funny with the red-haired  stalker/rape-artist-in-the-making (I'm 95% sure she doesn't have a name up to this point)

But yeah, Morita-san wa Mukuchi, in a nutshell.

There's some high school girls, they have ordinary lives.
One of them doesn't talk, she makes rocket science out of 2 + 2.
Stuff happens, for whatever reason.

The end.
