A Thank You - MvC3 Tourney - What's Going On

So, first and foremost, I have to say thanks to those of you who've stuck around (or randomly come back to this) for whatever reason. There are plenty of times when I kinda look at this and wonder "why do I even bother?" Like, not in some whiny, emo, "i hate my life" kinda way, but I just CANNOT wrap my head around the idea that people find me interesting enough to read about on their own free time.

Thank you.

___

Cutting out all the random mumbo jumbo and bs, I'll say I won a MvC3 tourney in town yesterday (read: saturday). All in all, the tourney was meh, but I had a blast. (Especially compared to events that happened today (read: sunday)).

For all intents and purposes, the tourney shouldn't have happened. But because some people in my crew, for better or for worse, don't think things through, the tourney happened. Was it worth it? On paper, no. In my pockets, no. But again, after what I put myself through today, I feel like it was worth the effort I spent for it.

"Well what happened?"

Well it starts like this. Xx Viper xX was tellin' us 'bout the tourney at this gaming center that we don't go to (because we have a gathering place, anybody we don't know has a 87% chance of being flakey, and I don't understand why people would play money to meet up and casually play a game they own when they have the means to do it for free). He said that plenty of people were asking about it, so all things considered, it'd be nice to go atleast meet some new faces. Whether they're ass at the game or not. So, tourney day rolls around, and we all start heading up there at one time or another.

Laswagga arrives seconds before I do (literally, seconds), and he's like "Yo what system is this on? I was supposed to be Gen (Liqigen) my ps3 stick, but I forgot it." -Dogy Aside- This is where some conflict starts to come up. Laswagga hates MvC3 and said he was NOT going to enter the tourney, just wanted to meet new people [/ASIDE]. He and gen had an idea where Laswagga would bring his ps3 stick, Gen would bring his 360, and they would just share depending on what system it was on. They both correctly assumed i'd bring both of mine, although I was pretty sure it was on ps3.

I walk in behind Laswagga and guess what? Xx Viper xX is there and there's only ONE other guy there who's entering the tourney. Now, me being proactive (and smart to save myself from future exposure like I'm doing here) went ahead and entered. What do I have to lose? Either the tourney falls through and I get my money back, or (as for now) the tourney is only me and this other guy, I blow him up, and I get whatever wack prize 1st place gets. It's ok, I'm competing against a person I don't know in a game I've (somewhat) been practicing in. That's what I like to do.

Then Gen walks in. Laswagga tells him he didn't bring his ps3 stick. Aaaaaaand this is where the textbook Warner Robins Fail starts to happen.

They both are like "well that sucks, I wonder if we can get the guy to switc hit to PS3." [ASIDE] Stop, why would you want to do this? In theory, at this point, this only benefits Gen. Laswagga HATES MvC3 and isn't going to enter, and Xx Viper xX doesn't play MvC3 at all, so he's not going to enter. We've got people jumping through loopholes to allow their crewmates to pay to play each other in a game they both own. The only real saving grace at this point is the random [/ASIDE]. The tourney host says "I'll switch to 360 if some more people enter." At this point, both Laswagga and Viper (yeah he aint kool enough for the X's anymore) both agree to join. . .

.. wait... what.

Yeah. Neither one of them play the game, nor like it, and they both just dropped $10 dollars to play it with 3 people they can play it with whenever and one random. Not to mention the ONLY reason Gen even cares to look at the game is that he accepted that he's ok with playing BFF (Wolv/Akuma) cause he can still play Amaterasu. He still doesn't like the game.

So with that, we start the tourney.
The tourney is quad elimination (yes you read that right. QUADRUPLE ELIMINATION. How this worked was the guy just called random matches until everybody cept 1 lost 4 times. For a small tourney where people want to play, it's actually a good format.

Oh, did I mention that the characters weren't unlocked yet, so Gen actually DIDN'T get to play Akuma out the gate LOL. Wolverine/Ryu... Best..Aquaintances... Forever?? Yeaaaaaaaaah~~no. lol.

Without going into many worthless details, just know that the few bystanders who watched this event go down tipped off the police on a violent case of serial killings that went down, commited by me. That random was pretty bad. Oh, and Blackstar (also in the crew) showed up after 'bout 7 matches happened and was allowed to enter like he was there from the start. I mean, I wans't too worried about it, beyond fearing for my life as Spiderman zipped everywhere.

The only other thing you need to know is that the "finals" dissolved down to me vs Gen. At this point, nobody was really paying attention cause this had dragged on for 'bout 3 hours. But what did this tourney host want to do? He wants us to play the last game with lowest damage. Now, I don't know why I agreed to this. Actually, I do, because I'm polite to the clueless and I'm still in a mode where I have a tendancy to do kindness to others without real thought of myself (will touch on later), so I'm like, "Eh that's dumb as fuck but whatever." Gen agrees simply because he wants this nonsense to end.

And I win.

Now, as wack as this tourney was, it was actually pretty fun. Why? Because I wound up doing what I like to do; playing video games against people. Call me simple, call me shallow, but that totally made my weekend. Sit around with some people and just nerd out for a while. I get to be me and have a good time.

Oh, the prize? Rofl, nope, wasnt cash. You shouldn't expect cash from a trash tourney in the middle of bumfuck GA. What was it, then? 2 days worth of free time at this game center. "A value of $50 dollars." Riiiiiiiiiiight. Too bad, again, I have absolutely NO reason to go to this place. I mean, I guess I'll hang onto it if hell breaks loose and I hear about some random group of nobodies constantly meetnig there. Or maybe I could go sell it to somebody (i wouldn't mind selling it for $25), but yeah. Nothing amazing.

_________

So what's been going on beyond that? Well, I can't say a whole lot of nothing (I tell that to people I don't care to talk to), but it's not like anything groundbreaking is happening.

....eh, I'm ½ lying about that. I actually typed a good 2 or 3 paragraphs and erased them twice. Do I have some intersting stories to tell? Yeah. But I'm not. They don't really fit this blog. It's a bunch of stuff I'd rather save for offline for people who'd "be intersting in hearing them", which .. I can't really think of any. -shrug- Sorry, that's not what I made this blog for, and I'm not gunna make people sift through garbage when that's not what they signed up for.

But for the stuff you DID sign up for.

I'VE GOT TO DO A FUCKING REVIEW ON SALT FANTASY 13 WHEN I FINISH IT. Ooooooooh man that game right there. That's got priority over an update on "The Quest", and a new journey to be "That Bat Shit Crazy Petra".

Some anime reviews, ... I can't remember if I reviewed X Men First Class (a.k.a. The Story of Swagneto), I've always got plenty of stuff to put in here.

I dunno, I just always get mixed feelings about having a blog. :/

AAAAAAAAAAAH WELL. Like I said at the head, I've gotten enough feedback as is, so we'll let it rock for a while.

Until next time.
