I've been meaning to talk 'bout this for a while..... siiiiince PSN came back up (cause that's when it started), but there's been a reason why I haven't had a lot of talk about "The Quest". The first, lessor reason, is because Mr. Annual (Lethel) moved to Athens for a while and still isn't back, so I have no immediate reason to give a flip about any of the next in line games for Sakura (SFA3, CvS2, etc etc).
But the main reason is because of this game right here. Arcana Heart 3.
I've been wanting to play AH3 since it was announced for PSN. And when all the things broke down, I finally got the money (and psn card) for it ... like A DAY after PSN went down. But it's ok, I waited patiently for it. And when PSN went back up, you best believe I forced my ps3 to slave through a ridiculously buggy PSN Store to download the fucking game. ^_^

"Dogy, I'm not surprised that you wanted to play AH3." Really? You should be. Because honestly, I didn't give 2 flips about AH1 when it came out in America. No real scene for it, came out 'bout 2 years after it came out in Japan (iirc, AH2 had BEEN OUT for a while when AH1 finally released in America), and I didn't care about anything. Didn't care much for the whole Arcana idea, didn't care for the character, nothing drew my to the game.
So what made you care?
Well, when Arcana Heart 2 came out, they introduced this here chick.
-digs for 3 minutes- (Really, I don't have a good pic? Oh well)Yes, I totally fell in love with Petra. She just has an interesting character design (both mechanically and as a character) to me. She has guns, and she pretty much wants to just shoot them. Much unlike some other stupid bitch with twin hand cannons in another game *coughNoelcough*. She's got long drill hair and a huge hoop skirt. No, I didn't go on some perv flip, it's just something different.
And until I got my hands on AH3, Petra was literally the ONLY thing that drew my interest to Arcana Heart as a whole. I didn't do any research on the game, didn't REALLY watch too much footage, I just knew "if I could ever play that game, I'd play that Petra chick with the guns and go pew-pew-pew".

And well, I got my hands on the game. Turns out, I love it. Maybe it's because of my current state with melee, maybe it's because of Capcom's nonsense with SF4 and MvC3, maybe... wait..
.. no no, this game is actually interesting.
See, I like Melty Blood, and I (for the sake of this post) play Melty Blood, but after going through all the characters and all the phases (MBAA), I REALLY only wanted to play Kohaku, Hisui, and not even really wanted to play them together this time through.
But Arcana Heart? When I started thumbing through the character, I actually wanted to TRY them all. Kira (the chick up top in the bottle) and Catherine were seriously the 2 "least interesting looking characters" in the game to me... but it's not that I didn't want to try them. They just didn't look as kool as Dorothy, Weiss, Scharl-however you spell her name (lol), and ... literally the ENTIRE cast.
Every time I turn the game on, I go practice with my character(s), but I want to learn others just so I can show people what they do. Not the "I'm gunna win tourneys with this character" kind of knowledge, but simply "Oh you wanna play this game? Well here's some starting blocks for ____".
It's just fun.

So, that's where my quest time's gone. I'm currently working my way up to get ready to fight people at ATL-R this weekend. I actually think I'm gunna do fairly well. Half because 90% of the people who play it seem wishy-washy about it, but also because the game feels like it just "makes sense" to me. Sure, I'm not great at it, but I feel better about it than I do about trying to march somebody down with Captain Kusagano (Sakura).

Where are we going with this? Well, when I got the game, I had a project to first learn the 2 characters I wanted to main in AH2, Petra and Dorothy, then learn a character a week.
Yeah that didn't happen.
I haven't gotten to Dorothy yet. I made the mistake of using Weiss as a random practice dummy, screwed around with her, and had fun herp-derping some Time combos. She was second. Learned some Fiona 3rd, Heart 4th, and Konoha 5th. Konoha killed the project because I realized "I can't really FUNCTION with Konoha in a week." Not to my standards, atleast. So I kinda dropped it. Now, I just random characters and try to learn stuff while practicing with Petra and Heart.
I'm gunna learn Dorothy after this week, but I've really taken a liking to Heart.
She's alot like Sakura, both in character
and in playstyle.(AND SHE KILLS AKANE IN THE MANGA TUTORIAL ^_^).
I could post about my progress so far, but I'ma save that for a future post AH3 update post. For now, know that I feel pretty good about my Petra overall, I just have to make things rock solid and just start seeing matchups. If I felt discouraged enough to need a 2nd character, it would totally be Weiss atm. My Heart feels wonky and Weiss is tooooooooo herp-derp. I need to sit down and actually learn neutral position setups with Konoha, and Fiona... she's kinda out there in no man's land.
