Game Review - Calling All Cars - (PS3/PSN)

So I was hangin' out with Shin Reiatsu one day, and we go to hang out with another friend, and Shin's like "Yo, let's hop on some Callin' all Cars." Now I've heard them talk about this game before, and how it's a bag of lols, but oh man I was not ready for it. Simplistic, addictive, competitive, awesome. There's really not a lot to say about the game, you just get in there and juke people before while you cap the crook.

Overview:

The game is a multiplayer PSN game. Real simple concept like I said, you're a vigilante cop of some kind, and you're trying to capture a crook who's escaped from jail. In short, you're playing a variation of capture the flag.

Gameplay: 8/10

You have to grab the crook who's just running down the road, and then you can capture him in the jailhouse for 1, 2, or 3 points, depending on what cap area you go to (3 being the hardest). You can also opt to try to cap him in the back of a moving paddywagon for more points (I forget how much they are), or you can try to cap him in the moving helicopter (Copter's worth the most, but it's maaaaaad hard to get). Whenever your opponent has the crook, all you have to do to steal 'em is bump his car and catch the crook as he lands. So like, holding on to him requires some lol-donut driving and smart use of the turbo. All the cars have the same stats, so it's not like there's a ferrari or something that you straight can't catch. You gotta be able to break ankles and do some solid moves to get by people.

Controls? Kinda wonky at first, but they're easy to get used to. Go like, one game and you'll be aight.

Beyond that, you have powerups. Missiles to shoot at people, magnets to drag the crook out of a car (you have to hold it, it's not instant. That'd be wack), hammers to hit an AoE around you and pop the crook out, etc etc. It's pretty lols.

My personal favorite stage is the trainyard, which has ALL of the cap points at some point and time, along with multiples at once (i.e. the jailhouse AND the copter). That adds for some awesome strats as you can make everybody D up towards the jailhouse and then make a break for the heli to try to break the game wide open.

Graphics: 7/10

The game goes for a more cartoon-esque feel while using 3D rendered models. Think Micro Machines if you've ever played any of those games/
Sounds: 7/10

... Um, there's nothing that'll make you mute the game. Of course I'm saying this knowing that the only time I played it was with 2 other black people and we spend a majority of the time cursing each other out, so I wasn't paying too much attention to the sound anyway.

Other notes:

Awesome party game. Easy to pick up, addictive to play. Good clean fun.

In fact, if you have a ps3, you better have this when I come over to your house. O_O
