Short I'm back, then a review of every anime I've watched since my last review in three sentences or less (maybe more).
Hey, guess who's back again! No, I haven't forgotten about this blog. In fact, I've thought about it at least once a week ever since my last post. I'm serious. Only reason I haven't posted is because it's really easy to convince myself that anything I care to blog about "isn't horribly important." I dunno, I'm one of those super self-conscious people or something.
Anywho, that's the short I'm back, now for the meat of this post.
Yeah, I'm literally going to review every anime that I remember watching since my last one in 3 sentences or less. From what I see, the last anime I reviewed was Shinsekai Yori from last... ... hooooooly crap it's been over a year. Man I love sitting around doin' absolutely nothing for all of life.
*shrug* oh well, here goes.
__
Winter 2012 > 2013
(actually didn't watch anything that season, guess I watched leftovers. I want to go back and watch all of Mondai-ji-tachi, because it's No Game No Life before NGNL was a thing. Probably not as good.)
Spring 2013
Girls Und Panzer (final 2 eps) 8.5/10 - Had to wait 2 seasons for the last 2 eps, totally worth it. I still think it's hilarious how good the anime is based off it's concept. It shouldn't be that good. [watch it]
Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) 7.5/10 - It's solid, but not as amazing as the masses make it seem to be. I understand why people who don't watch a lot of anime say it's the greatest thing ever, but I don't see why so many people basically think it's the second coming. [watch it]
Little Witch Academia 9.5/10 (unbiased score 9/10) - Holy crap this ova. Pretty sure I'd be into this even if it wasn't witches. :D :D :D [watch it]
Chuunibyou OVAs * - Most of the actual show short OVAs are ok-to-hilarious. The Depth of Field series is bad-to-ok. [regular ovas = watch it. depth of field = skip it]
Summer 2013
Recorder to Randosero Mi - 4/10. The gimmick's dead. They coulda did a lot with it but they just keep spamming the same stuff. Bleh [skip it]
Senki Zesshou Symphogear G - 6.5/10 - Hibiki is the only saving grace of the entire series and forever will be. Songs are still kool I guess, that's 'bout it. [meh]
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma*Illya - 5.5/10 - Lluvia (however you spell it) is the only character worth anything in this series, and the Saber fight is the only fight worth watching. Other than that, I want to slap whoever thought this was a good idea. [skip it]
Teekyuu 2 - 2/10 - Let me save you the trouble and show you the only thing worthwhile about this horrible series . I only watched because I kinda went all in with season 1. You don't have to be a masochist too (I think that's the right term) [skip it. I seriously did all the work for you in one link]
Uchouten Kazuku (The Eccentric Family) - 7/10 - The idea, theme, moral, and concept were all kinda interesting, but not a whole lot really happened. Benten was a kool character too. But... pacing? Hello? zzz [meh]
Blood Lad - 7.5/10 - Aight lil' action/comedy. ...... yeah that's really all I need to say until they decide to season-2-it-up. [meh]
WaTaMoTe (just google it if you need the full name. It's one of those where they decided to have a retardedly long name) - 6.5/10 (unbiased 7.5/10) - Another series where they had a good idea, but really squandered it imo. I honestly didn't laugh much, but most of the humor was bleh on me. [watch it (got a decent amount of media attention) ]
Gin no Saji (Silver Spoon) 8.5/10 (unbiased 8.5/10*) - Solid slice-of-life with a concept that hasn't been done like that before (to my knowledge, although the general idea is kinda universal). Somewhat informative and thought-provoking too. Great intro-to-anime series, imo. (Note*: Some people're convinced that I think so much of this because I live in a fairly rural region, but no; I just think it's a really solid anime. I actually hate outdoors, if that's not a known fact.) [watch it]
Gatchaman Crowds 8.5 (unbiased 8/10) - I don't understand why this didn't catch on more than it did~~ (oh wait AoT is still airing and people are sheep). (Hajime's) character development is really witty and well done. Only thing I really fault the series (read: first season) for is the pacing. [watch it]
Stella-C3 (Don't know wtf the shortname for this is for; I'm pretty sure I'm the only person on the face of this earth who actually watched it) - 7/10 - It's another series where the concept sounds so dumb it has to either be retarded or godlike. It's actually good, but it needed more animated action (not the 90/00 stillshot montage). Was an ok lil' sidejourney. [meh]
Kin'iro Mosaic 7/10 (unbiased 6/10) - yoooooooooo that engrish is real. I think I got suckered into this because I actually liked the chars and I was kinda on my "I wanna learn Japanese" tip. I kinda chuckled at some things here-and-there, too. [skip it]
*note* I meant to watch Danganroppa. Still haven't.
Fall 2013 (a.k.a., a godtier season)
Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundry) - 8/10 (unbiased 6.5/10) - Ok, I'll admit it, I'm a sucker for Kuriyama's character design... especially her glasses.... actually I don't really remember much else about the series other than that wtf idol ep and it being a streamlined idea. .... But those glasses doe :3 [meh]
Coppellion 9/10 - Nobody watched this?? ~~ Seriously?? Good plot, solid action, loosely related to a current event; like, this series literally screamed win-and-success, but got overshadowed by a lot of things that aired this season. [watch it]
Kyousougiga 6/10 (unbiased 8/10) - What in the world is this abstract-art wanna-be-deep psychology nonsense? ... why do I feel like I do and don't need to watch the other series before it for it to make sense? (Note*: random vague review aside: it's actually a really good series that's centered around the character development and the core conflict. The thing is; I think the design causes the series to really be hit-or-miss) [meh]
Nagi no Asukara - 8/10 - Ok, it's more "two types of people don't like each other for some old traditional reason nobody today really understands ~~~~~~~ YOOOOO THEY ACTUALLY WENT THROUGH WITH THAT PLOT TWIST??? FEELIN'S 'BOUT TO GET DEMOLISHED UP IN HERE." ~~ Real rap, this is like, the only time when a character was basically "gone", but I actually -wanted- them to come back. [watch it]
Golden Time - 5/10 - *sits for 3 minutes trying to even remember what I hated about this series* ..... I kinda don't remember anything except for the big picture, which was "not a whole lot really happened, and pretty much every character is an idiot." [skip it]
Kill la Kill - 8/10 (unbiased 7.5/10) - If I look at this series as how I personally view it, a series that's supposed to serve as an overly aggressive hype generation machine, then I have to say it's good because actually does it's just extremely well. If I look at it objectively as an overall series, then it's a fairly safe, systematic series that tries to mask it's mundane-ness with some risky gimmicks. P.S. Mako's the best. [watch it]
Outbreak Company - 8/10 (unbiased 7/10) - Another series who's description made it sound like it was going to be s-tier or f-tier. What made it good was it tried to be a "total package" series, and performed fairly well. I probably think so much of it because I like the characters a lot, maybe more than I should (mainly Miusel and .. Elberia? I think that was her name?) [watch it]
Freezing 2 - 7/10 - This is literally one of the most hypocritical things I've ever said in my life (I am serious), but it actually bothered the crap out of me when they censored Freezing. I'd just come to terms with it, but the Japan went and got standards. ~~ Beyond that, it's literally more Freezing, but they actually kinda got to the point. [meh]
Strike The Blood - 6/10 - Remember Code:Breaker? This is essentially the same thing except instead of overhyping Sakurakoji, Himeragi was somewhat useful. I'm just glad it ended. [meh]
Yuushibu - 6.5/10 - Wrongfully got called the counterpart to Outbreak Company. More random slice-of-life into random action... which was fine except for "why did some of this have to hinge on ecchi?" And why is Fio a complete idiot? [meh]
Log Horizon - equal-to-whatever-I-said-SAO-was/10. - Log Horizon surprisingly has somethings going for it (which is also true about SAO, but I won't admit it publicly :x :x ), but it has some huge glaring plot and logic flaws that they actually build the story on. I kinda like Log Horizon more because I appreciated the different approaches to action (more conversation/dialogue based action, which actually doesn't happen often in "action" animes). I actually should write a separate review for this. [watch it]
Hajime no Ippo Rising - 9/10 - I heard tales of Ippo before this series came out, and I said "I'll try it ,and if it's ok, I'll go back and get the backstory and see why people swear by it~~" No, they give you all the backstory you care about and then they throw you into body montages. And the action is good, legit boxing action; not zany anime antics.[watch it]
Little Busters Refrain (I think I'm actually not supposed to call it Little Busters 2) - 5/10 (unbiased 7/10) - First and foremost R.I.P. Door, the only thing that mattered. Second; how you gunna x the only character I give a flip about 4 eps into the series? Last, but not least, ... where... in the world.. did this plot twist come from? Like, what? [meh]
Magi 2 - 7/10 - So there was a really sweet arc built on a cool (but actually done-before) ideal...... but 70% of season 2 doesn't have Morgiana so I literally didn't care. [watch it]
Teekyuu 3 - 3/10 - Teekyuu stahp. Pls. (the only reason it has 1 more point than s2 is because, iirc, they actually played tennis in this season, or it mighta just been them playing baseball with tennis equipment. I don't remember. I also can't give them 0's because~~) [skip it]
Sekai de Ichiban - 0/10 - ..... I'm serious, this has to be the worst anime I've ever seen to date. The concept is retarded, the plot is dumb, the characters are morons (ESPECIALLY SAKURA), there's nothing good about this. I'm pretty sure that if somebody was sad enough to try to perv out on it they actually couldn't because it don't really function as an ecchi either. (Can't say the same for the ovas, which I had to stop watching like 20 seconds into the first one because I have standards). But seriously, this series is so bad I actually recommend it to people who're willing to try it. It'll make you reassess your standards. [watch it. No I'm not just streamlining these. This is so bad it's actually entertaining to laugh at]
NouCome (another "just google it, you'll get the full name") - 5/10. I think this was the series that made me realize that a current fad in anime was to have a really kool idea and then just make really lackluster decisions with it (yes, I know this is everything everywhere, hush). There are some pretty hilarious scenes in the series, but not enough to save it as a whole. [meh]
Samurai Flamenco - 7/10 - When you start it, you think you're walking into yet another justice anime (something like a light-hearted Zetman, to be specific), and then they start dropping plot twists like tetris blocks. By the time you finish, you wonder wtf you just watched. #guillotinegorilla [watch it]
Galilei Donna - 8/10 (unbiased 7/10) - a.k.a. Read or Die-TV lite. tl;dr - not a whole lot out of the ordinary actually happens, but the characters really do a lot for the series. In a midst of the moe-moe happy-go-lucky slice-of-life era, it was actually kool to have a series with 3 sisters don't really get along. P.S. Series has the best OP I've heard in years (blows AoT out of the water) but I can't find a good version of it on youtube. [watch it]
Kill Me Baby OVA - ?/10 - I remember watching it, I don't remember what happened. I don't even remember if Agiri was in it. [meh]
Winter 2013/2014Witch Craft Works - 8/10 (unbiased 7/10) - Anime Witches, directed by Michael Bay. [watch it]
Space Dandy - 4/10 (unbiased 7/10) - I f**king do not like Space Dandy and I don't see why anybody likes it. *steps out of the hate-cube* This is the literal definition of a hit-or-miss series. I'd almost go as far as to call it anime Beavis and Butthead, kinda. [watch it]
Super Sonico - 8/10 (unbiased 6/10) - ** I honestly can't put into words why I think this series is amazing. It's not the first music-promoting series I've watched. It's not the first slice-of-life. The only thing that literally comes to mind is "I don't know; it just worked." ** [meh]
Tonari no Seki-Kun - 8/10 - lol are you serious Seki? You're a nut. p.s. best ED in years.
[watch it - blogger was being dumb]
D-Frag 6.5/10 - It's sorta-kinda Beelzebub that doesn't suck as bad. There's A LOT of funny stuff in there, but there's a lot of stupidity in there too.[skip it]
Chuunibyou 2 - 1-point-lower-than-Chuunibyou/10 - I started disliking the show when it strayed away from it's gimmick and became a generic Slice-of-Life Rom/Com. Season 2 picks up where s1 ended. Pretty sure I'd have a completely different outlook if I didn't hate Rika's general archetype. [meh]
Hamatora - 5/10 - Standard Issue. [skip it]
Wooser 2 - 1/10 - ................................................. who the heck.... actually.... green-lit another season of Wooser." [skip it]
Gin no Saji 2 - 8.5/10 - More of the same. New char that you want to punch in the mouth for being canned, but they make her work. [watch it]
Sekai Seifuku - 5/10 - I really only remember 2 things about this anime; 1) I don't remember anything that has anything to do with the anime (I vaguely remember the plot, that's about it) 2) I remember that I didn't care for it, wanted it to be over, and didn't see why anybody cared to watch it. [meh]
Amazing Twins - ?/10 - Everybody talked about this when it was about to air. Even super casuals who only watch mainstream shonen jump anime talked about it, so I tried it. NOBODY TOLD ME IT WAS A FRIGGIN 2 EP OVA WHERE THE 2ND EP IS GOING TO AIR LIKE HALF A YEAR AFTER THE FIRST EP. [? really need the 2nd ep to give this any kinda judgement]
Spring 2014
Black Bullet - 7/10 - Attack on Titan remix until the last 10 minutes. No seriously, the last 10 minutes (really, 5 of the last 10 or so) makes me want the 2nd season soooooooo much. Kisara became one of the illest generic-samurai-school-girls ever. [meh]
No Game No Life - 8.5/10 (unbiased 7.5/10) - Yo the chess game in this series is ridiculous. Mindgames and setups galore. The only reason I check myself with the unbiased score is because I haven't seen whatever that anime was that I mentioned earlier in this post that is literally No Game No Life before NGNL (I saw the first ep, which is why I can confirm that to be true. [watch it]
Hitsugi no Chaika - 6.5/10. Nothing's really original, nothing's really exciting, but I think the thing that drives me up the wall about this series is that it made me realize that a lot of anime today has it's plot driving on one or some of the main characters being pretty moronic. If Chaika didn't fit that bill, I'd probably like the series more. [meh]
Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin - 6.5/10 - Lets not talk about why I even looked at this series to begin with; just know that it has some kool action here and there and that's about it. The plot is all over the place, chars are kinda the same, just a buncha wtf. [meh]
