Tanken Driland (and Another I'm Not Dead Post)

Well, lemme start off by saying "Hey, I'm still not dead." Heh, another one of those phases, sorry. This one wasn't some mini-e-depression or anything like that, I just flat out was too lazy to update. Mainly because I don't know what to update with, but also because, well, I'm lazy, lol.

I have some ideas though. There are some things I *DO* want to post. Thought about some intermediate guides for Arcana Heart, some comments about speedrunning, plenty of stuff. Just... lol

Anyway, I'ma bring this session back with some usual stuff, WHAT'VE I BEEN UP TO LATELY.

Kinda like a shotgun, but I'm too lazy to dig the format up from my other computer.

Tanken Driland

So, I've said the anime for Summer 2012 looked horrible out the box. The only anime that interested me by description alone was actually NOT Tanken Driland (it was Sword Art Online, which is ok). But after reading through this a few times and noticing a musket floating around in the picture, I figured "Eh, why not try it? Worst that can happen is I hate it. That won't be new. And thus, I went to my trusty streaming site and let the first episode rip.

And I laughed, then smiled. I like this anime.

It's nothing amazing, not really. It's about Princess Mikoto *points up at blonde chick*. She's the heir to a kingdom, but she would rather be a hunter (read: adventurer). Generic story, but that's all we've really gotten in 3 episodes. There's more to it, but that's it so far.

What makes me like the series thus far is just the "charm" of it. I don't want to flat out call it cutesy, because watching a golem backhand a girl into a wall isn't cute, that's sadistically comical, but that kinda stuff just made me laugh. It reminds me of watching an early 90s JRPG. The animation also reminds me of Kill Me Baby, although the little research I've done so far tells me they weren't made by the same company.

All in all, it's just something to distract me for 20 minutes at a time. I mean, what else can you say about a guy literally boxing a flock of birds and actually killing some? It's instant entertainment. I like the series for now, but I imagine that it'll wind up like Ben-to; I won't really remember the details 2 months down the road, I'll just remember a bunch of "OOOOOOOH SNAP" moments.
